Wow, just WOW! Phenomenal place to eat!First of all, the wait was not as long as I was expecting, they had a huge projector screen with the World Cup match going on while we waited (excellent), then we were greeted by our server, her name is ELLIE, very nice and very patient. There were 3 families in our party with 4 children and she was exceptional! Then our chef showed up, JEFF, he was extremely entertaining and very professional, he noticed that I loved spicy food and he went out of his way to cook a special "spicy teriyaki sauce" that was out of this world!!! We were very pleased with the atmosphere, service, quality and quantity of the food, we will be coming back to this place many times in the future. Great job Ellie and Jeff!!!!!!'

We really enjoyed our experience here. Probably the best Asian styled grill cooking restaurant I've been to. Arrived an half-hour early than they opened but we were allowed entrance to the bar and sitting area which is just gorgeous. The decor is stunning and its comfortable to sit and chat with a drink. The chef for our dinner was funny and entertaining. Our waiter was very nice as well. I did notice the staff joking around a lot which was a little odd. Also, being seated at dinner with strangers is normally cool but not when they have sucky little kids yelling. The food was delicious though! Salad, soup, chicken and shrimp, fried rice, and frozen yogurt. It was worth the early-bird special price we paid for the whole experience. I would definitely return!

Terrible experience would not recommend. The orders were wrong, and the food was not what worth what we paid for it. In addition we had a gluten and dairy intolerant person in our party and the staff was very unhelpful. We told them multiple times and they still cooked her food wrong. I would not recommend taking anyone with an allergy to this Resturant they will not accommodate them.

I have been a regular customer here for at least 10 years eating here 2 to 3 times per week. I am vegetarian and due to food allergies I can only eat the rice and salad which has never been a problem. Now the manager Rose says I can not order these items but must order an entree which I cannot eat!! Will no longer patronize this restaurant.

Second visit in four years, just as good as the first visit. Plenty of food, short wait time(party of five) less than five minutes on a Saturday night. Waiter was extremely attentive and chef was entertaining. Hopefully we get down to murrells inlet sooner than every four years again

We went on a Friday night around 5pm. We had a party of eight and were able to sit at a table in the sushi bar with no wait. I think people tend to experience a long wait for the hibatchi side of the restaurant. However, if you're into sushi, just go straight to sushi bar and seat yourself. You can get a few non sushi items on this side as well, such as tempura, miso soup, salad, and dumplings. We ordered salad, miso soup, vegetable tempura, seafood tempura, wasabi dumplings, Futomaki and Uramaki - california roll, kamikaze roll, volcano roll, kentucky roll, crunchy roll, jamaican roll and more- and also Nigiri-sushi- salmon and shrimp. Service was awesome and everything was great! Pricey, but well worth it.

It's a Japanese steakhouse, so of course it's good. It's also expensive, though, but that's only expected. Our chef was Kenneth: a really nice guy, funny, and a great cook with impressive knife/spatula skills. I ordered the steak, shrimp, and teriyaki chicken and everything was delicious, but the chicken was the hands-down best. I advise you to come with an appetite, or at least some space in your refrigerator, because you will get a LOT of food (this coming from a guy who can generally put it away). All-in-all, this would definitely be a place I would recommend if you're on vacation or if you need a good, sit down meal.

One of the better hibachi places I've been to. The portions are ridiculously huge. No one leaves the place without a doggie bag. Our chef was great. Sadly I can only give the place 3 stars because the food caused me the worst intestinal discomfort I've ever had (even before I was able to leave the place). Good place for entertainment and food, but if you have a sensitive stomach, you may want to avoid it.

If I had to sum up this place with one word, it would be YUM! The Benihana style Japanese Steak House where they give you a show cooking right in front of you and your group. Only two of you? You'll likely be dining with strangers but since you all share the experience, you all become fast dining friends. I hardly remember the dishes I've ordered, but from my 4 or so visits, I have never been disappointed. I should be back in South Carolina again this year, and will make a bee-line to Miyabi's with my local friends.

Came here on Monday 9/19 for dinner. Atmosphere was really cool when we walked in. I think we all stared at the water fixture for the entire time we were waiting for our table. Kenneth was our Hibachi Chef - hilarious, entertaining and SO friendly! Our server was just as great. Never had a more amazing Volcano roll and the Hibachi was delicious. Very impressed. Great staff - you can tell they have fun and enjoy what they do. Can't wait to go back.

Yum! We had a great meal. Food and service were great. We will definitely go here again!

We've decided each of our trips to Myrtle Beach wouldn't be complete without a visit to this fantastic restaurant! The food is amazing, the chefs are entertaining, and service is impeccable! Last time we had Batman cooking for us on the hibachi. He was great. This time we had Jayvin, and he was just as entertaining! Shane, one of the other helpful young men at the restaurant was one of the most pleasant and customer service friendly people I've had wait on me. He's a keeper, Miyabi's! A MUST TRY!

Great place for big parties! Great staff and the food is off the hook! Deep flavor with great expertise on the seasoning. Great place for a romantic date.
(5)David W.
Good entertainment. Better than Benihana. Food was good but not great. Too much rice and everything taste the same because they douse everything in soy sauce and tend to over cook it. Reasonably priced. Drinks are tasty but low on booze.

This is the gold standard of Japanese hibachi style steakhouses. I have been coming here for over 10 years now, and the Miyabi's chain is still the best! This particular location in Murrells Inlet is very well run. You will never see a Japanese steakhouse more packed (often a sign of a good restaurant) than this one. The parking lot stays 100% full, if not over-flowing at times. The popularity of Japanese hibachi (both in express and sit-down form) can probably be attributed to Miyabi's, and that's just a statement of fact. The sushi bar has grown to hold its own identity. They have their own service aside from the regular part of the restaurant, and many times people will go there for dinner. The sushi rivals any you would find in most sushi bars in more urban places. The hibachi food itself remains top-notch. The fried rice is still by far the best out there, as they don't bother with throwing peas, carrots, and scrambled eggs into it (yuck!). Instead, you get this buttered brick of golden fried rice, to which the texture is almost indescribably delicious. One underrated part of Miyabi's is their sauces. Again, quality can be found here and you can taste the difference from other places. The "white sauce" (also known as shrimp sauce, mayo sauce, yum-yum sauce, etc.) is the perfect taste and consistency. Goes great on the aforementioned fried rice! The ginger sauce is great for steak and shrimp. The mustard sauce, while good, gets a little less appreciation... but also goes well with steak. If you have a spicy palette, ask for the "red sauce" or "hot sauce", which is a chili-base sauce (Sriracha style). It is the perfect complement to shrimp and sushi! In summary, you will not find a better Japanese steakhouse than the Miyabi's chain. It rarely has a "bad night", unless the service is somehow off, which is again... is rare.

I've only eaten at the sushi bar here (not around the hibachi grills) but the sushi is DELISH. I've heard the hibachi is equally as tasty. Sushi chefs are super nice and the decor is great. I've eaten here on a date and with a large group of friends and it is a great atmosphere for both settings.

My wife and I were really wanting something good on our last night of vacation. I looked at Yelp and found this place. We were going to have Hibachi but when we entered the restaurant we were asked if we wanted sushi or hibachi. Since we could be instantly seated at the sushi bar we decided to have sushi. This turned out to be a very good decision. Edwin took good care of us with recommendations and prepared what was the best "sushi experience" we ever had. We got several different rolls, plus Spicy Tuna sashimi, and tuna carpaccio. Service at the sushi bar was attentive and the experience overall was wonderful.
(5)Kellie T.
Great staff, fantastic show for the kids (and adults). Kenneth was our chef, and he was very interactive with our 2 and 4 year olds, made sure everyone had anything they needed. Amy was our waitress and was very attentive and sweet. We will definitely be back.
(5)Pamela P.
We loved this place. Great service. Great food. Huge portions. We come back any time we are nearby. Go early and get the early bird special. It gets busy, but the wait is never long.
(5)Aleksandra L.
Miyabi interior surpasses by far any other Japanese restaraunt I have dined at. However, the food was pretty basic. My table ordered some appetizers and mostly sushi. I ordered baked salmon skin roll, it was overcooked that the skin was harsh and EXTREMELY salty. The rice had absolutely no flavor to it. Lets just say the sushi was not the best. As we were walking out, right around dinner time rush. The waiting line was out the door. Also heard from the locals they rush people due to their high volume of people.

Didnt care for this place. I have ate it several times back home, but this one was not great. Got a whole lot of rice 5 pieces of chicken 6 shrimp 6 steak for $28.75. NOT worth it!!! Which I did share with my husband but was extremely to much rice. Our cook was lame. We ordered hibachi chicken and got teriyaki. I do not like teriyaki.. so I was upset about that!!!!
(2)Cassia V.
Food was excellent. Sat on the "sushi" side and the sushi was wonderful. No wait and beautiful decor. Only downside was our server who seemed very annoyed to be there. Overall, would go back and recommend. :)

Disclaimer: I can't comment on the quality of food here since the service was so bad I left before getting my meal. My date and I were initially impressed with the decor at Miyabi. The night sky theme is lovely. We went on a crowded Friday night and were immediately seated at one of the hibachi grill tables. The hostess asked us if we wanted the sushi menu and we said yes. Both of us ordered sushi. The selections looked good, if a bit pricey. Not five minutes after placing our order, a staff person came to our table and asked us if we would like to sit at the sushi bar since we had ordered sushi. She said we could go look at the bar, see if we liked it, and let her know. We decided we did not want to sit at the sushi bar (very noisy and difficult to carry on a conversation). When I informed the staff person that we would prefer to sit in the grill area as originally planned, she stated that it is their policy that customers ordering sushi only MUST sit at the sushi bar, and that there would be a ten-minute wait before we could be seated there. She was very brusque and rushed with us. I informed her politely that we would be leaving and she simply glared at me and then turned and walked away. This is truly horrific customer service. What should have been a pleasant, no-stress meal was interrupted by this woman and the restaurant's "policy" which neither the hostess nor the waiter informed us of at the beginning. We had made it clear when we came in that we would be ordering sushi so we should have been immediately seated at the sushi bar if this is truly their policy. I don't know how the food is at Miyabi but I won't be back to find out.

We've been here a few times. We made the mistake of going July 5th this time and the wait was over an hour for most (luckily with just the two of us, they got us into a table in 25min). Typical very generous portions of rice, steamed or fried (no egg). Veggies are zucchini and onions. Choice of steak, chicken, seafood. I had the Filet/chicken/shrimp combo. It was cooked just right. The chicken is a thick glazed teriyaki which is a little rich for me. I would recommend hibachi instead. Consistently good food and great service. We'll be back once the summer touristy season has passed.

They have an awesome sushi/sashimi deal at the sushi bar for dinner. It is a nice platter that inlcuded miso soup & salad with ginger dressing and a portion of standard sushi rolls (I don't remember which ones) as well as sashimi (tuna, whitefish, and salmon) for only $14.95 - what a deal! The sushi very good quality and less expensive than what I would pay for comparable sushi back home. I would definitely eat here again.
(4)Eric S.
I'm not a big fan of hibachi style restaurants and this one is no exception. On the other hand their sushi is the best you can get in Myrtle Beach period! I've been going there for years now and they have never let me down on quality. I've eaten at every sushi place I can find here and I love to try new places for it everywhere I travel. Miyabi Murrells Inlet can hold their own with all of them except some of the high end places I've been to in DC or other large metro areas. Their prices are on the low end of average for high quality sushi. I've been to the Miyabi in North Myrtle and there is no comparison, Murrells Inlet is vastly superior. The service can be iffy at times especially when they hire new people for the summer tourist season and the wait times can be long. These are the only reasons I'm giving them 4 stars...the sushi on its own is 5-star.
(4)Thomas R.
Hibachi - As with any hibachi place at the beach, you get a ton of food...more food than even the giant tourists can handle :-) Sushi - The real deal. Spicy scallop roll. They do a great job of mixing sushi the way it should be with a little southern flavor. Service - Nothing to write home about, but this is the south - people are nice.

Sushi bar is fantastic. All the chefs have been there for as long as I can remember. Great value on delicious sushi. Steakhouse is separated by the bar--smart design to block the noise. Always satisfied.

When our party of nine arrived at 5:30 on a mid-March Friday afternoon, the parking lot was packed, and I was worried about how long the wait might be. However, we were seated within five minutes. During our short wait, we marveled at the high ceilings painted as a night sky, and a fountain illuminated with a strobe light which made the water appear as if it were flowing up instead of down. Since we arrived prior to six, we bonused because we were able to take advantage of the Early Bird Specials. I knew full and well that my uber picky four-year-old was not going to eat enough to make it worth it to order an entree from the children's menu, so I requested the shared plate charge for the two of us. As I expected, my son wanted no part of the food, but even if he had, there would have been ample rice, beef, and teriyaki chicken for both of us. The beef was fatty, and I would have preferred for it to be trimmed more because the dining area is dimly lit and it was difficult for me to see to eat around it. Teri, our server, was on time with the drink order and thrilled the kids with their beverage orders which had paper parasols, maraschino cherries, and lemon wedges stuck through the lids. The wine list was basic, and two in our party had Kendall-Jackson Pinot Noir, which was served with a generous pour. Our chef was engaging, but not overly so. It has been a long time since I have been to a Japanese steakhouse, but I did notice that the cooking "show" he put on did not seem as long or as as exciting as ones I have seen at other similar establishments. He may have been trying to expedite the process as he saw we had five wiggly children under the age of seven with us and knew we had a fairly short shelf life, or he may have been trying to turn over the table quickly since we were early birders on a Friday night. Either way, the showmanship was basic for a Hibachi grill cook. Toward the end of our meal, Teri asked if it were permissible for my one-year-old to have a cupcake, as she was going to bring cupcakes out for all of the kids. She did so, and one of the children ate two cupcakes, and the the other children ate none, as the frosting and cake had bits of pineapple in it and Finicky McPickykids weren't having that. Teri didn't inform us that the cupcakes cost one dollar each, though. Had I known that, I would have told her to keep them. My friend who was with us took the price of the cupcakes out of her tip. Because I wasn't aware of the cost of the cupcakes until we had paid the bill and were leaving the restaurant, I did not complain about the sneaky upcharge as I normally would have. We all went home with leftovers that fed the adults lunch and then some the next day, so for the price it was a large amount of filling food of medium quality to high quality. .

Waited 35 minutes for our table despite making a reservation. But it was worth it. While the food was only above average, the service and showmanship of the teppanyaki chef more than made up for it. Will come back again if I'm passing by.
(4)Steve M.
Shushima appetizer was fresh and worth the $7.50. Filet was very good, lobster was pretty good, grouper ( new on the menu was fishy tasting, maybe frozen). Rice was barely ok. Ambience about what you would expect from Japanese Steakhouse, maybe a little better. All in all, a slightly better than average dining experience.

By far our favorite Japanese style steak house! Portions are large -- you won't go home empty handed for sure! Always get your togo box for lunch manana! We've been going to Miyabi for about 10 years also and we've never had any complaints. If you go with a large group, make sure you reserve one of the tatami rooms. These semi-private rooms have wooden floor chairs that allow you to sit on the tatami mats (sans shoes) but not on your knees -- perfectly seated as if you were in a chair. The Chef's are entertaining and this restaurant is always full. Try to get there for an early bird special. Call to make reservations early! ONE NOTE ON PARKING: If you're coming from the north going south, you must go to the next available left turn and whip your car around on hwy 17 to head north until you get to the parking lot. If you are coming from the north heading south and try to take that first turn in front of Miyabi, you will not be able to get into the parking lot!!!

Warning do not go to this restaurant to celebrate a birthday!! Just downgraded my review for this business after another disappointing evening here. This was a birthday celebration. The entire table had checked in 15 minutes before our reservations. A half-hour later we were still waiting patiently after two inquiries. Finally, with memories of last years ruined birthday party for my husband, I approach the front desk in defense of my friend for her birthday. I explained that this was the second ruined birthday celebration, and asked for Maria the same manager from a year ago. She said the table is not ready yet we are busy. After I expressed my anger from last year, she said she would try and rush things We were finally seated A half-hour after our reservation. If you check my previous review, you'll understand my anger. Last year I thought the food was good, this year not so much. The soup was a broth with little flavor. The salad was okay. The shrimp appetizer that everyone receives was good. The huge Rice serving that is large enough to look like a brain that's plopped on your plate is such a waste. It literally fils half of your plate. They obviously are trying to fill people before their measly portions. The taste of the food was good. I was originally a fan of this restaurant but I am done. Our service was terrible. There is a waiter that comes before the cook and his name was Angus. Although he was nice, he screwed quite a few things up including our orders, drinks, and forgetting to bring the birthday drums at the end. He had to be reminded about everything. John who was our cook but his presentation was much better last year. Maybe he was overworked but the show was definitely not as entertaining. It seems their service is going downhill. Also, FYI, it is quite noisy as it seems every other table is celebrating a birthday. The sound of drums was prevalent through the entire meal. Sad that they can't get their act together to make the birthday special from the beginning.

This is the Japanese hibachi restaurant that I judge all others by. I have dined here many times over the years and the quality does not wane. I recently took my children, and although my eldest son is very picky and does not particularly like Asian food, he though it was the greatest place he had ever been. This statement may have been helped by the fantastic fountain, the starry sky ceiling in the bar and the artwork scattered around, but he did say that their chicken strips were awesome. I, myself, love the quality of the steak and shrimp and the fried rice is always spot-on. If you are in the area and have the time and money, treat yourself to a fantastic dinner. You will thank me.

When my husband and I lived in Surfside, we could come to Miyabi's at least once a week for sushi. They have the freshest sushi with many types to choose from. The sushi chefs and waitresses are always very friendly and very appreciative of any extra tips. I don't think we ever spent more than $60, and that typically included alcoholic beverages, a salad and soup app, and lots of sushi. It's one of the main things I miss about living there!
(5)John B.
After eating fried shrimp all week, this was a welcome relief. I was happy with my server and the chef. Kudos to the manager lady for offering free drinks for the leaky a/c above us. I liked my food.

As I write this review I am hoping--perhaps assuming--that my experience was an aberration. Given the comments of others on this site and a personal recommendation from a trusted associate I hope that to be the case. Regardless, this restaurant and this staff completely failed to meet the, "Best Hibachi in Myrtle Beach" expectation we saw on a Billboard we passed on the way to the restaurant--and that is worthy of this exercise. Our visit started with a 50 minute wait time beyond our reservation time. We received no apology and no explanation beyond the hostess suggesting that, "they were running a little behind." Really? Once seated, we were promptly greeted by a friendly waitress. We were a group of eleven including six adults and five children. We ordered a combination of Appetizers, Sushi, and Hibachi. While there were various challenges even in the ordering process, the bottom line is that four of the six adult orders were either incomplete or incorrect. There were three items ordered that the restaurant was out of and we were not told of the outage until the rest of our dinner was delivered. The substitutions ordered to replace the out-of-stock items either were never delivered or came after everyone else was already finished their entire meal. Of course one of the reasons one eats hibachi is for the entertainment of the chef. Ours performed admirably but his side show was little different than so many others we have seen before. Regarding quality of food, most of my meal was to my liking. I found the salad dressing and the fried rice to be somewhat bland for my palate but the house soup was very good. The one roll of sushi I did get was the Calamari roll and it too was good. The shrimp were well prepared and the vegetables were very nice. I was somewhat bothered by the fact that the first thing the chef did to my six ounce steak was to lop the entire right 25% of it which was all fat. The rest of the steak was also very fatty. We ended our night with apologies from the waitress and a reminder that since our party was larger than six the gratuity had already been added to our bill.
